Thibaut Courtois makes UEFA Champions League team of the week

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made UEFA Champions League’s team of the week for matchday eight, it was announced on Thursday.

Courtois is having yet another stellar campaign with Real Madrid, constantly having to put out fires wherever possible, and he has been a big reason why Real Madrid have not conceded a bigger amount of goals this season.

Courtois was again excellent against Brest on Wednesday, making some important saves early on.

Brest pushed for a goal many times over the course of the match, but Courtois made some crucial saves — five, to be exact — to make sure Real Madrid ended the league stage with their first clean sheet of the Champions League campaign.

Although Courtois fully deserved to be in the XI, the same could be said about Rodrygo, who continued his excellent run of form with two great goals.

Courtois’ attention will now turn to the playoffs, where Real Madrid are due to face Celtic or Manchester City, and he will once again be called up to show why he is the best goalkeeper in world football.
