Raul to leave Castilla at the end of the season — report
Real Madrid Castilla coach Raul Gonzalez is set to leave at the end of the season, with Alvaro Arbeloa set to take over, according to a report from Jose Felix Diaz of MARCA.
Raul’s six-year spell at Castilla was bound to end at some point — some would argue it was due to end one or two seasons ago — and it looks like, according to the report, that time will come in a few months’ time, irrespective of how well or poor Castilla do under him this year.
Raul’s time at the club may not end, however, as it says that there are two options that are being considered for Raul’s future at the moment. One is to join Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching staff, and the second is to get a role away from coaching, kind of like how Santiago Solari.
Arbeloa is finally getting the promotion he has wanted for years, and it remains to be seen how well he does with a rather inexperienced squad. Raul, on the other hand, has a lot of potential to be a successful coach, regardless of what people say, but it doesn’t seem like he’d want to pursue that potential.
