Peugeot launches 8-year warranty to help Brits save £3,400 on repairs

Peugeot has announced a new measure that can help drivers cut the cost of running and repairing a number of popular models.

Over the past few years, the cost of repairing a vehicle has risen significantly, with Peugeot highlighting that the average driver spends £450 per year getting their car fixed.

To help lower the cost of repairs, Peugeot has introduced an eight-year warranty on all electric models called Allure Care. Nicola Dobson, Managing Director for Peugeot UK, suggested that the new warranty can cut the cost of running a new car.

She explained: “When you look at the ongoing cost of car repairs affecting drivers and add it up over several years, Allure Care provides up to eight years of coverage, and most importantly, it provides drivers with peace of mind.

“By extending the offering to the entire electric passenger car range, we are hoping to give customers the confidence they need to make the switch to electric with Peugeot.”

Whilst most manufacturers offer warranties of between three and seven years on their new models, Peugeot Allure Care will cover vehicles for the first eight years on the road or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

In particular, the warranty will cover each vehicle’s electric motor, charger, battery, and transmission system, in addition to the main electrical and mechanical components that make up the vehicle.

Drivers will receive two years cover with Allure Care free of charge, with the remaining six years available if they get their car serviced at one of Peugeot’s network of approved aftersales garages.

The cover will come as standard on the French company’s range of fully-electric cars, such as the E-208 supermini, E-308 SW estate, and E-2008 compact crossover from July 4, 2025.

Upcoming models, including the E-5008 SUV and E-408 liftback, will also receive the cover when they launch in the UK later this year, bringing the total number of cars covered to seven.

In addition, Peugeot confirmed that Allure Care is transferrable between owners, meaning used car buyers will still be covered if the vehicle is covered within the eight-year period.

Peugeot’s latest announcement comes at a time when various vehicle manufacturers are vowing to do more to encourage more motorists to make the switch to an electric car.

The Italian performance car brand Abarth recently announced that its flagship model, the 600e Scorpionissima, will be cut in price by £2,100 to avoid the expensive car supplement – a change the brand claims will help drivers save more than £3,000 in tax.

Volkswagen and Renault have also claimed to be working on particularly cheap EVs, both hoping to launch electric city cars for under €20,000 (£16,600) in the coming years.
