Labguru ELN integration enhances Thermo Fisher LIMS capabilities

This integration aims to create a unified lab management experience, offering scientists enhanced data traceability, security, and streamlined workflows across a wide range of laboratory settings—from research and development to GXP-compliant environments. We spoke with Dino Kazanis, product manager, and James Swartz, commercial lead for the Labguru integration at Thermo Fisher Scientific, to learn more about how this partnership will drive lab productivity and efficiency.

What were the primary motivations behind integrating Labguru’s Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) with Thermo Fisher’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and lab operations software?

Our team determined that there was a need for an ELN that integrates with existing Thermo Fisher software and equipment, and that collaborating with a solution like Labguru’s will provide our customers with a cutting edge ELN that helps accelerate their scientific discovery. We’ve had requests indicating the need for true ELN integration with our LIMS and other lab operations systems that can support everything from R&D to clinical to GXP compliant labs and beyond. Labguru’s ELN matches our needs for security, flexibility, current features, and their willingness and infrastructure to expand our offerings.

Can you explain how the integration of Labguru’s ELN with Thermo Fisher’s software suite enhances data exchange and traceability in the laboratory setting?

With this integration, we are now better able to trace where data sets come from, where they’re going, who has viewed them, and more, effectively removing the possibility for error before it happens and making it easier to identify the source of errors when they do happen. This collaboration hopes to help laboratory teams across industries eliminate data silos and minimize risk of data manipulation. Having data flow smoothly between teams will ensure that duplicate data entries are forgone, sample integrity is maintained, and that the data will automatically populate in the systems, making it faster and easier to reach scientific discoveries.
