Daily Thread : 24 June 2024
The Daily Merengue is a place where you can feel free to discuss all things football. Do not be alarmed by the overt RMCF bias. It’s in the name!
Shoutout to the mods who do a fantastic job, Kung_Fu_Zizou, Felipejack, Juninho, NeRObutBlanco and yours truly, Valyrian Steel.
Uruguay are off an running!!
Folks that didn’t have a team to root for in the Euro have a few more options with the Copa America underway. Oh and Marcelo Bielsa is back too.
Fede Valverde vs Panama:
85 minutes played.
1 big chance created.
2 key passes.
85% passing accuracy.
7/10 long balls completed.
100% ground duels won.
100% aerial duels won. pic.twitter.com/gxuIKhKMMJ— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) June 24, 2024
I’ve only watched 23 minutes of Bielsa’s Uruguay but I’m already sold this is way more interesting than the Diego Alonso disaster-class in 2022 where Fede was completely mis-used.

Tonight we Samba.
Do or die for Croatia tonight and a potential start for the LUUU.
Let’s hope Modric’s men can get the job done against Italy. They need to win outright.
Xabi Alonso: “Anyone can be a starter”
Alvaro Rodriguez, Cesar Palacios to return to Madrid after suffering severe injuries vs Milan
Ancelotti: “I would like to thank Tchouameni for his commitment and altruism”
