A slice of Xiamen: hipsters love this former fishing village

Shapowei was once a fishing village, home to a sizeable community of “sea gypsies”, who spent their entire lives out at sea. Today, it’s one of the coolest hipster neighborhoods in Xiamen, full of bars, cafés, boutiques and street food vendors.
