Player Ratings: Real Madrid 5 – 0 Alaves; 2024 La Liga

Full match player ratings below:

Thibaut Courtois—8: Immediately tested by Alaves from the opening whistle with a quick double save. Despite a 5-0 score line, Thibaut was tested throughout and proved he is back to full fitness.

Dani Carvajal—6: Had two difficult players to match up against in Luis Rioja and Ianis Hagi but defended resolutely. Got forward and provided width whenever possible.

Eder Militao—7: Fun battle with Samu Omorodion who equals Militao’s physical presence. Was never afraid to step some 80 yards from his goal to apply pressure or prevent a counter attack.

Nacho—6: Makes decoy runs and important off ball runs to support Mendy or others when pressed. Had a couple poor passes out of the back but Alaves did not punish the mistakes.

Ferland Mendy—6: Shut down every run from Alex Sola and intercepted multiple long range passes from Antonio Blanco.

Eduardo Camavinga—8: Plays with more positional freedom than Tchouameni in the number 6 role. Ventured forward and picked up the ball as a vertical outlet for Bellingham before waltzing into the box on a dribbling sequence and finding Vini for the second goal of the game.

Toni Kroos—8.5: Central fulcrum to all of Madrid’s play with quick one or two touch passes and switches of play from the anchor of midfield. Produced an inch-perfect assist to Bellingham on the opening goal.

Fede Valverde—8: Found pockets of space by starting wide and then moving into the right defensive midfielder position to pick up the ball. Scored a rocket of a goal by beating Owonu with a near post finish that roofed into the upper 90.

Jude Bellingham—9: Scored in the 10th minute with a lovely left footed, one touch out of the air, lobbed finish. Made countless runs off the ball into the box and was visibly frustrated with lack of service, namely from Vinicius. Registered an assist on the third goal of the game by feeding Fede Valverde just outside the box. Earned his second assist on the night with a threaded ball to Vinicius.

Vinicius Junior—9: A constant threat running at the Alaves backline but sometimes took a touch too many or a shot that was not on. Scored the second goal of the game with a quick one touch finish after great individual play from Camavinga. Later scored his second goal of the match from the right side of the box with a shot that cut across the goal.

Rodrygo—8: Industrious with movement all across the front three positions. Nearly scored with a back-heel Cruyff-like finish after a Vinicius pass at the end of the first half. Created 2 big chances with his own dribbling or movement inside the box and failed to score after generating an xG of 0.89. He did nearly everything perfect aside from putting the ball in the back of the net.

Substitutions:

Arda Guler—8: Everything this kid touches turns to gold. Yet another goal in just a 30 minute cameo appearance.

Dani Ceballos—7: Active and involved throughout his time on the field. Managed 2 key passes in just 18 minutes.

Antonio Rudiger—6: Gave rest to Militao for the final 20 minutes.

Mario Martin—6: Late substitution to see out in the game and reward him with some minutes for the first team.
