How to remove mould from silicone sealants without bleach or scrubbing

Taking to the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page, one woman shared how she was able to banish the black mould taking over her bathroom silicon sealants overnight.

Hannah Louise said: “Good morning my lovely Hinchers. Woke up like a kid on Christmas Day, so excited to see the finished result (I felt like a kid watching a kinder egg video).

“Here are before and after pics of my silicone mould. I used the Cilit Bang Black Mould Remover and used cotton wool on the affected areas overnight. 

“It’s made such a massive difference. Absolute game changer. The product was around £4 and I must have used about 50p worth. 

“I did use bleach prior to this but the results were shockingly bad. It barely did anything.

“I did have the tiniest bits of mould left behind, but I went round a second time and it removed it all.”

However, some Mrs Hinch fans claimed that there is a better mould-removing product – HG Mould Spray.

Melissa NicDhomhnaill said: “I used HG mould remover. Gone in half an hour. Tried the overnight bleach trick and wasn’t impressed.”

Posting a picture of the HG mould spray, Jeni Duvall wrote: “This and it’s brilliant. Gets rid of the mould in less than an hour and no scrubbing.”
