In a hard-fought game at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid secured a 2-0 victory over Villarreal thanks to long-range goals from Fede Valverde and Vinicius Jr. While the match itself lacked the usual flair and dynamism that fans might have hoped for, Los Blancos did enough to get the job done, ensuring all three points stayed in the capital.

The game began with a cagey tone, as both teams struggled to break through each other’s defenses. Clear-cut chances were rare, with much of the action restricted to the midfield.

Fede Valverde, however, found a moment of brilliance midway through the first half, unleashing a powerful strike from outside the box. It was a much-needed breakthrough for Madrid, who had otherwise struggled to break down Villarreal’s defense apart from one big chance for Mbappe, and some great dribbling sequences from Vinicius Jr on the left.

Vinicius Jr., the standout performer of the night, continually caused problems for Villarreal’s right-back Kiko Femenia. His pace and trickery made him a constant outlet for Madrid, and it was only a matter of time before he added to the scoresheet himself. In the second half, Vinicius doubled Madrid’s lead with a brilliant long-range effort:

While not a classic display from Carlo Ancelotti’s side, it was a professional performance built on a solid defensive foundation. Villarreal, for all their efforts, were unable to break through a well-organized Madrid defense, with Andriy Lunin largely untroubled throughout the match.

Ultimately, this win, though far from Madrid’s most exhilarating, keeps them on track in the La Liga title race.
