Pheasant-tailed jacanas make home in lotus pond

Known as “fairies of the ripples,” pheasant-tailed jacanas have settled at a lotus pond in Xianghu Wetland Park in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. Also referred to as “water phoenixes,” these birds are under second class national protection in China. Their arrival to breed and raise offspring at the pond highlights the stable and improving ecological conditions of Xianghu Lake.
